About this policy

Recast is developed by HyeongJin Lee. This policy covers the Recast apps for Mac, iPhone, and iPad, and this website. Features and supported formats vary by platform.

Files and conversion

The app accesses files you select or drop into it and processes their contents on your device, including text recognition where available. Recast does not send file contents, file names, or recognized text to us or to an online conversion service.

Conversion may create local working copies and temporary files. The app attempts to clean up temporary conversion files when a task finishes, fails, or is cancelled. An interruption or unexpected app termination can leave temporary files until they are removed by the app or operating system.

On Mac, results are saved to the destination you authorize. On iPhone and iPad, completed results are kept in the app’s Documents/Conversions folder until you delete them or remove the app and its local data. Exported copies remain wherever you saved them. Recast preserves your original files.

Settings and file permissions

Recast may store preferences and references to authorized folders locally. On Mac, these references let the app remember folders you have permitted it to use. They are not sent to us.

Cloud storage and sharing

If you select files from iCloud Drive or another file provider, that service may download or synchronize them under its own privacy policy. The same applies when you save results to a synchronized folder, use device backups, or share a result with another app. Recast does not operate its own file synchronization service.

Analytics, advertising, and purchases

Recast does not include app analytics, advertising, tracking, or a developer-operated crash reporting service. Apple may process purchase information and diagnostics according to your Apple settings and its policies. App Store payments are handled by Apple; Recast does not receive your payment card details.

Contacting us

If you email recast@hyeongjin.com, we receive your email address and anything you choose to include. We use this information to respond to your request and resolve support issues, and retain it only as needed for those purposes or applicable legal obligations. Please avoid sending sensitive files unless they are necessary to explain your issue.

You can use the same address to request access to, correction of, or deletion of information you have sent us. Files processed only on your device are not available to us; you manage those files on your device or with your storage provider.

Visiting this website

This static website is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver and protect the site, Cloudflare may process technical request information such as your IP address, browser information, requested URL, and request time. This is separate from the app’s local file conversion. See Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy for details.

We do not add advertising, analytics scripts, cookies, or browser storage to this site.
